How To Get Rid Of Brown Spots On Face?
Brown spots or age spots are caused by collection of pigment due to the exposure to sun light. These are an indication of aging of a person. These are also called liver spots or solar lentigo. Age spots are grey, brown or black spots whereas liver spots are brown or black and appear due to exposure of certain parts of the body to sunlight. These are common after a person has attained the age of 55 and mostly found on the back of hands and forehead.
These spots are harmless and often no treatment is required for their cure, being age related. However bleaching agent can be applied on them to reduce the color for cosmetic reasons. The possible cause can be excess production of melanin by the skin cells. This dark pigment gives color to the skin. Exposure to ultraviolet light accelerates melanin production. Due to clumping up of these at a particular spot, dark cells become apparent. Reducing exposure to the ultraviolet light will help reduce these spots.
Prevention is easier or better than cure. It is essential to apply sunscreen lotion at regular intervals on face, arms and other exposed parts of your body. There is a misconception that this lotion has to be applied only when going out. Ultraviolet A rays defuse with light and enter your home or car or any other place where sunlight reaches. The exposure to these rays is silent and continuous. Ultraviolet rays B or burning rays are the cause of tanning of skin. This is why sunscreen lotion of SPA 30 is recommended to be applied.
Laser therapy can be a cure. Laser guided rays are concentrated on a particular part of the exposed cells. These rays cause decomposition of black or brown pigment in skin while the non pigmented cells remain. Peeling of the affected skin is another remedy. This is done slowly using certain derma creams at regular intervals at a gap of about two weeks. Freezing treatment is also effective in some cases. Above all the best is, if possible, to avoid moving in direct sunlight during the day.
Certain home remedies are also available and quite effective for treatment of brown spots. These are summarised below:
Aloe Vera gel is a principal home remedy for treatment. Gel is gently rubbed on the effected parts. The treatment is slow but will be apparent in a period of a month or so if applied regularly. Apple cider vinegar mixed with half the quantity of orange juice can also be applied with soft cotton for results. The acidity of orange juice will help fade away the spots. Some people also suggest application of butter milk or oil on the affected parts.
Remember the home remedies are slow to act and the results should not be expected in days.
