How To Do Acrylic Nails At Home?
Artificial nails or acrylic nails are used to beautify hands quickly without the bother of growing nails over a period of time and having to care for them. It will need practice and patience to glue them perfectly.
You will need the following equipment
- Two ceramic saucers
- Brush for applying acrylic
- Acrylic powder
- Acrylic liquid
- Acetone
- Coarse nail board and fine nail file
- Bonding glue
- Manicure stick
- Nail tips
These can be bought as a kit from beauty stores. Some cotton balls and paper towels are also required.
Spread the paper towels on your work surface. Wipe your nails free from old nail polish and oil by using acetone. Next lay the nail tips in front of you and see which one corresponds to each finger. It should not cover too much of your natural nail. Each tip is numbered so you can use a similar tip for the second hand that you have selected for the first hand.
Now place a small dot of bonding glue on your nail. Place the nail tip in place and press gently till it sticks. In this way fix all the nails. Then clip the nails according to the size you want. Using the coarse board smoothen all the rough edges. With the fine file shape them properly.
Pour some acetone in a saucer and soften the bristles of the brush in it. Wipe off excess on a paper towel. In the other saucer pour some acrylic liquid. Dip the brush in the liquid and wipe any extra on the rim. Dip the same brush in the acrylic powder. A ball will be formed. Place it on the nail against the cuticle and spread it on your nail and the acrylic nail.
If you find that the mixture is not pliable, dip the brush into the acrylic liquid and then try to spread the ball on to the nail. Use as much liquid as necessary. The strokes should be as if you are applying nail polish. If the mixture becomes too runny add some more acrylic powder.
Immediately wipe off any of this acrylic from your skin as it will be difficult to do so if it hardens. You can apply more than one coat to make the nails appear natural. Once all the nails are in place and the acrylic has hardened, shape the nails again if necessary. Wash your hands any dry thoroughly. Paint your nails in the desired color. Allow to dry properly. These nails can be kept for about three to four weeks. To remove them dip your hands in acetone for about twenty five minutes and wipe off the acrylic. Let some time elapse before you glue on another set or fungus may grow in your nails.
