Home Remedies For Skin Rashes And Itching
Skin rashes are caused due to a number of reasons. They can be caused due to the clothes which a person wears or due to application of some cosmetics or soaps or shampoos. These can also be caused due to unhygienic conditions. Rashes result in redness of skin accompanied with itching and swelling. In medical term this condition is called dermatitis and in extreme cases this can aggravate into eczema.
In adults it may be generally caused due to manmade fibres worn by a person. It can also be caused by dyes used for printing or dying clothes. Some people with delicate skin may get rashes from soap or from cosmetics. Children may develop rashes from unclean or wet nappies if worn over a long time. Skin covered with napkins becomes red accompanied with itching. This condition is quite painful and the child cries due to pain. Sometimes the child may get fever.
To get rid of rashes in children it is essential to apply talcum powder on the affected part and it should be left open and exposed to fresh air. In extreme cases some antiseptic cream should be applied after washing the affected part with a mild soap. After washing, olive oil should be applied on rashes for instant relief. If the rashes are developed due to clothes made from manmade fibre this should be discontinued. Always prefer to buy cotton clothes for the child.
For treatment of rashes, in addition to antiseptic creams some natural or herbal extracts can help.
Aloe vera is a natural growth and very useful in case of any type of skin ailment. Its gel can be applied on rashes. This plant has antibacterial properties and has quick healing effect. It can be easily grown in a pot kept in the home or in your backyard.
Oatmeal bath or application of baking soda will be helpful. Witch hazel is another wonder plant whose extract is commonly used for treatment of any skin trouble due to its astringent properties. To make its extract you can boil its bark in some water for about twenty minutes. After it cools the liquid should be applied on the affected part with soft cotton. Chamomile essential oil also has a soothing affect on the skin but some people may be allergic to this oil. It should be applied after testing it on a small patch of delicate skin of body. Eucalyptus oil is another home remedy.
In case of eczema or in severe cases, it is better to consult your doctor rather than going in for home trials. The rash may convert into open wounds due to scratching and lead to further complications.
